With recent news that only the PS3 can support real 3D in gaming has sparked several debates. The latest was even news that nintendo was developing a new DS (3DS) that can provide 3d gaming and the surprising part is that it can do this without the glasses.( you know those dorky specs we wear at the cinema)
Microsoft has also announced that they are working on their own 3D technology that can experienced without the use of the glasses. Their Applied Sciences Group is creating 3D by using a camera to track viewers' eyes and a new special lens. That lens is shaped like a wedge, with 11mm thickness at the top vs 6mm at the bottom. Apparently, the wedge lens can steer light straight into a viewers eye by switching light-emitting diodes along its bottom edge on and off. Basically, by controlling the light, it can display different images on the screen and direct where each image goes. They also noted that a limit of the protype is that presently only two people can experience or watch at once on a single screen. Some would say...."what's the point", but i guess it's just a start and don't be surprised when you hear it has been ported over to the xbox360 for a truly
